A variety originating in the southwest of France.

It is homogeneous, buds in mid-season with average sized bunches and small grapes.
Petit Verdot is fertile and very productive.

The vine shoots are fragile and very horizontal and so support is recommended.

With good maturation, very powerful, tart and tannic wines can be obtained.
It gives body, colour and vivacity.
